Vintage spoils in bohemian Monti

To find out why Monti is Trastevere’s cooler brother check out the ‘UI Areas of Rome’ page. Pifebo is the sort of place that resembles an underwater treasure chest rather than a vintage store.  Get of the metro blue line at ‘Monti’. Its intimate size bellies the spoils within, where leopard print, old denim and pearls are the new black. This riotous store boasts high quality quirky vintage stock at mid-level prices (Average €30-€60). You may want to check out its bigger protégé Pifebo 2 in San Giovanni where its wares have even more space to shine, (search ‘San Giovanni’ in keyword tab). Open Mon- Sat, via dei serpenti ,141. www.pifebo.com

Also in Monti there is a vintage market every Sunday (except the last of the month)  in an old warehouse like hotel off the cobbled streets seconds from the metro. It’s not exactly cheap here, but along with refined vintage choice there is also a funky array of handmaid jewellery, bags, artwork and more. Hotel Palatino, Via Leonina 46/48. Sunday, 10am – 8pm. www.mercatomonti.com
