Authentic food amidst bohemian vibe of Monti

20130704_210913Check out why Monti is Trastevere’s cooler brother in the ‘Areas of Rome’ page. Right in the midst of the chic artsy explosion that is Monti, you can find the refreshingly unpretentious La Vecchia Roma restaurant. Known for its simple dishes and fast service, it can still add a flourish with unique dishes to delight the tastebuds such as the salted foccacia with cured salami, roasted pork and strawberries. The unusual mussels with gnocchi was fresh and tasty and the traditional roman Rigatoni al sugo di coda (pasta with chunks of lamb tail stewed In tomato based sauce) got the mark of approval from my roman man. Our meal of two starters, two mains, wine, water and coffees came to a very reasonable €44.
