Micca Club, Rome’s speakeasy spectacular

5042220411_00c0ecc15f_zSet hidden beneath the streets in true speakeasy fashion with exposed brick and velvet seats, this plush tongue-in-cheek venue is the most creatively vintage club in Rome.  It is Rome’s mecca for sparkles, fans and feathers of the grand era of Burlesque and Cabaret. The scene is now thankfully growing and new smaller events are popping up around the city. Always importing performers and singers from around the world (myself among them), at Micca they pride themselves on the best talent in town that keeps on changing. I’ve witnessed many extravagant shows where no two are alike and where performers really give it all with their show stopping innovative acts. You might find a sensuous striptease artist sat atop a bedazzled rocking horse batting her eyes at the crowd, or a mermaid songstress belting out a smoky ballad with a full live band. DJ club nights provide such dancing grooves as a swing dance party or a 60’s beat festival. The best nights are the cabaret variety shows at the weekends where you get a cheeky bit of everything (€15 including 1 drink at the fabulous cocktail bar)
